I got to know Erma when we attended a weeklong arbitration training at the George Meany Center in Washington DC about 25 or so years ago. PSSU sent at least five new business agents including Bill Bacon, Donna Scarborough, Erma and I. We worked hard, had heated debates and funny parties. At the end, a huge snow storm rolled into the area. To those of you from Erie, may not think this was a big deal, for the Washington area it was - everything shut down. Erma and I drove back to Harrisburg together, our jaws were clenched and we vigilantly watched for crazy warm weather motorists. It was apparent that they did not know how to drive in the snow. Despite few motorists on the roads, by the time we reached Harrisburg we were both greatly relieved.
Erma was one of the most elegant and gracious people I’ve known. Despite the stress and general negativity of our jobs, she handled it with compassion and humor. I admired her and will miss her. My deepest sympathy for her family and loved ones. May you be surrounded by her love and caring.
