Phillip A. Farbo, 89, of Erie, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at LECOM Senior Living Center following a lengthy illness. He was born in Erie on May 28, 1928 a son of the late Carmen and Amelia Padovani Farbo.

Phillip graduated from Strong Vincent High School and went on to work with Erie Forge and Steel for 25 years, as an Estimator & Foreman. He then worked as an agent at the Pennsylvania Bureau of Consumer Protection and retired after 17 years. He was a former member of the Nuova Aurora Society, and in his younger years played softball for the Nuova Aurora Club in which their team won the Northwest PA softball championship in 1951 in Altoona, Pa. He also played baseball for the Post 11 American Legion. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and enjoyed homemade cooked meals. He also enjoyed cards, golf, bowling, gardening and horse racing. And, he loved meeting his friends at the Donut Connection where they would talk about old times and enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut.. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and always would help anyone who was in need.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Domenica "Mamie" Colonna Farbo; one grandson, Joseph Perry; one great granddaughter, Erin Perry; one brother, Richard Cosmo Farbo; and his stepmother, Valerie Farbo.

Survivors include one daughter, Amelia Perino of Erie; two sons, Phillip P. Farbo and his wife, Francine, of Erie and Joseph Perry and his wife, Louann, of Fairview; one brother, Dominick Farbo and his wife, Therese, of Erie; six grandchildren, Phillip and Brandon Farbo, Anthony and Briana Perino, and David and Jim Perry; four great grandchildren, Hallie, Alyssa, Jim, and Christina; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
