Florence Bailey Locastro Spampani, 87, a resident of Erie most of her life, died on Saturday evening January 5, 2008 at the Village at Luther Square following an extended illness.

She was born in Erie on March 22, 1920 a daughter of the late George and Florence McGahan Bailey.

Florence had worked as an office secretary at the Erie G.E. for 19 years and retired in 1977. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband of 27 years Tito J. Spampani; 2 sisters, Grace Truitt of Fairview and Virginia Nichols of Erie; a brother, Walter J. Bailey of Lawrence Park; a step daughter, Judy Lewis and her husband Edward of Erie; a step son, Robert Spampani and his wife Pamela of Seattle, WA; 2 grandchildren, Deborah Lewis of Erie and Rob Spampani of Seattle, WA; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her first husband John Locastro in 1971; 2 brothers, George "Gus" Bailey in 1984 and Howard C. Bailey in 1989.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Rd. and Pine Ave., Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and are invited to prayer services there on Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church at 2:00 PM.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your own choice.
