Obituary for Richard S. Brinker

Richard S. Brinker, 91, of Greene Township, passed away on Tuesday February 22, 2022 following a brief stay in the hospital. He was born in Export, PA on October 18, 1930 a son of the late Clifford S. and Jean Lessig Brinker.

Richard graduated from Penn Joint High School in 1948 and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for 42 years retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer and Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of the Pittsburgh Air Defense and the Erie National Guard. He was co-organizer and treasurer of the 112th Association. He was a life member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he sang in the choir for many years and a member of the Greene Township Lions Club for over 40 years, the American Legion for over 50 years, and a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid supporter of the Seneca High School girls soccer team where his granddaughter played. He was also extremely proud of his two grandsons who are active military. Dick also loved helping his community.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Brinker, and his sister, Sheila Shartz.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Barbara J. Broome Brinker; one son, Richard Brinker, Jr. (Lorie) of Greene Township; one daughter, Kathy Ebert (Steve) of Waterford; three grandchildren, Kyle Ebert (Sarah), Ethan Ebert, and Lindsay Brinker; one great grandson, Benjamin Ebert; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and are invited to services there on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Those attending visitation and funeral services are encouraged to wear a mask.
