Obituary for Dorothy M. "Dottie" Stewart (Sceiford)
Dorothy M. "Dottie" Sceiford Scheffer Stewart, 94, of Erie, passed away peacefully Monday March 11, 2019 at her residence. She was born in S. Ripley, NY on April 14, 1924 a daughter of the late Albert Joseph and Marie Hoenes Sceiford.
Dottie graduated from Academy High School and worked in the Billing Department at GTE for 15 years. Most recently she worked at Tracy Griswold Company as a secretary and bookkeeper for a number of years. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served as Treasurer for over 37 years. She enjoyed sewing and her cat, Rascal.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, James B. Scheffer; her second husband, Robert L. Stewart; one brother, Robert Sceiford; and her former son in law, Craig R. Deering.
Survivors include two daughters, Heather Kiehlmeier and her husband, William, of Waterford, and Jeanne Fischer and her husband, John, of Erie; four grandchildren, Miranda Thompson (Jason), Collin Deering (Stephanie), John Henry Fischer, and Eric Fischer; one great grandchild, Mason Thompson; two step-grandchildren, Jennifer and Scott Kiehlmeier; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. until the time of services there at 10 a.m.. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
