Obituary for John J. "Jack" Pikiewicz Jr.

John J. "Jack" Pikiewicz, Jr., 73, of Erie, passed away peacefully Friday March 1, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Erie on March 28, 1945 a son of the late John Pikiewicz, Sr. and Eleanor Rozenek Pikiewicz.

Jack graduated from Cathedral Prep in 1963 and earned his B.S. in Biology and Safety Education from Lock Haven State University in 1968. He earned his Master's in Guidance from Gannon University and taught at Cathedral Prep from 1968 to 1980 where he coached wrestling and was the head JV football coach. He was inducted into the Cathedral Prep Athletic Hall of Fame on September 29, 2017. Jack worked at Hammermill Paper Company in Human Resources for 21 years and most recently worked as a teacher with the Erie School District before retiring in 2014.

Jack was a member of St. James Catholic Church, the Siebenbuerger Club, and the Commodore Perry Yacht Club. He was a dog lover and enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening, and boating.

Survivors include his wife of over 48 years, Linda "Lynn" Spadafore Pikiewicz; two sons, Jay Pikiewicz and his wife, Julie, of Erie, and Joe Pikiewicz of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren, Jack, Liam, and Olivia; one brother, Bill Pikiewicz and his wife, Debbie, of Erie; one sister, Eleanor "Bubbles" Nowakowski and her husband, John, of Erie; his beloved dog, Remy; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Monday from 3 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Tuesday morning at 11:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at. St. James Catholic Church at 12:30 p.m.. Burial will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
