Obituary for Robert L. Young

Robert L. Young
Robert L. (Pup)(Bob) Young, age 86, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. He was a special man who knew the strength of gentleness and the gift of thoughtfulness, and who lived a life of kindness and love. Bob was born on July 3, 1932 in Erie, PA, the son of the late Lloyd and Margaret Young. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and best friend, his wife of 63 years, Marilyn Young on January 6, 2015, an infant daughter, Elaine Jean, his brother, Richard Young and sisters, Doris Briggs and Carol Angerer.
Bob graduated from Academy High School in 1951, followed by serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked from a young age at the family business, Young’s Meat Market. Upon their closing, he worked at General Electric in various capacities until his retirement in 1994.
Before and after his retirement, Bob enjoyed gardening, woodworking, traveling, going to the casino and playing cards with family and friends. Friends and family only have to look around their homes to see a treasured shelf, table or stool made with love from Bob and Marilyn.
Pup rarely missed any of his children's, grandchildren's, nieces', or nephews' participation in church and school sporting events. He was a dedicated family man with a great sense of humor. His “Roses are Red” poems will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his three children, daughter Denise A. King (Ron), and sons Scott K. Young (Sharon) and Dr. Daniel Young (Linda) all of Erie. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Stephanie King (Adam Carolus), Kimberly Duncan (Michael) of Hagerstown, MD, Jennifer Foutz (Brett), Robert Young (Elizabeth), Master Sargent Michael Young(Halee) of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Young (Alison), Christopher Young (Nicole) of Carey, NC, Timothy Young (Erica), Ashley Young and Melissa Branthoover (Ray) and great-grandchildren Ainsley and Brody Carolus, Alexander and Madison Duncan, Addison and Bailee Foutz, Raegen and Brookelyn Young, Addison, Ashlynn and Alexandria Young, Olivia and Charlotte Young, Jordan Young, Ellie Young, and Taylor, Lauren and Morgan Davenport.
