Jeanne M. (Rensel) Werner, 93, of Millcreek, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at St. Mary’s East. She was born on October 17, 1924, in Erie, Pa., a daughter of the late Clair and Delores (Gorman) Rensel.

Jeanne worked at the former Elby’s Restaurant where she was head waitress for three years. She also worked at Carlisle’s Department Store for 12 years, sharing her fashion sense and style with her community. She was part of the Jolly Jesters Clown Group. She enjoyed gardening, music, singing, and dancing. She was also a longtime member of St. Luke Church, then Our Lady of Mount Carmel where she sang in the choir, and more recently at Our Lady of Peace Church.

She will be most remembered for her legacy of l9ove that she passes on to her family, friends, and neighbors. Jeanne was a strong woman living through hard times as a child during the Depression, losing her mother at an early age, and standing by her husband who served in both WWII and the Korean War, and also built their family home. Through it all, Jeanne continued to choose love every day. She took great pride in her family and her memory will be woven into every family gathering.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice E. Werner on June 18, 1999, and whom she married on August 14, 1948, also by a sister, Mary Rensel, two brothers, David Rensel and Albert Rensel, and two brothers-in-law, Ralph Muller and Harley Werner.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Yochim (Joseph), and Tania Small (Mert), and one son, Maurice B. Werner, all of Erie, Pa., two sisters, Claire Muller and Margaret Snider (Donald), and one sister-in-law, Pauline Rensel, her dear friend, Bob Soder of Erie, four grandchildren, Amy Magill, Emily Schneider (Rick), Joe Yochim, Jr. (Carlee), and Julie Ferraro (Corey), 13 great-grandchildren, Samantha and Amanda Magill, Kaelyn and Bradon Schneider, Monica, Justin, Mary, Rose, Matthew, Isabelle, and Cecelia Yochim, and Michael and Theresa Ferraro, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday at 12:45 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church at 1:30 p.m..Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Memorial may be made to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Drive, Erie, Pa., 16501, or in her name for Masses at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 West 38th Street, Erie, Pa., 16506.
