Mary Ruth  Macie (Potter)
Mary Ruth Potter Macie, age 69, of Erie, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jackson, Ky., on May 13, 1948, the daughter of the late Robert Potter, Jr. and Lula Richardson Potter.

Mary graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1966 and attended Gannon University. She was the first female purchasing agent for General Electric in Erie. She later worked as the secretary for St. Peter Cathedral Center, was the Executive Assistant for the Leadership Erie program at Gannon University, and was a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Mary was the past president and current treasurer for The Women’s Roundtable. She enjoyed theater, traveling, and especially cooking for her family and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Potter and her brother Hershel Potter.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, James Macie; her daughter, Katherine Macie and her husband Rick Linker, of Richmond, Va.; her son, Jason Macie, of Hillsdale, Mi., her granddaughter, Lillyana Macie; her three sisters, Barbara Haddix, Fairlena Meehl, and Amy Reigel; her two brothers, Keemes “Bobby” Potter, and Larry Potter; her best friend, Georgeann Antalek; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd. on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Foundation - 100 Barber Place, Erie, PA 16507.
