Agnes Bednarowicz Wojtalik Astemborski, age 90, of Sunrise Senior Living Presque Isle Bay, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Erie on November 20th, 1926, a daughter of the late Anthony and Gertrude (Danowski) Bednarowicz. Agnes was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and the former Marine Bank. She was a graduate of Academy High School, a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish, a charter member of the Ladies Guild, the Bereavement Committee, and a member of the Siebenbuerrger Ladies Auxilary. Agnes enjoyed traveling, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards with her Tuesday card club, and keeping up on family activities through Facebook. Most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Stanley Wojtalik in 1975, her sister Helen Bednarowicz in 1958, and her second husband, Al Astemborski in 2016. Survivors include her three children: Linda Peterson and her husband Bob, Janet Wojtalik and her partner Art Laneve, David Wojtalik and his wife Susan and three stepsons: David Astemborski, Robert Astemborski and his wife Tammy, and Thomas Astemborski and his wife Bonnie. She is also survived by two sisters: Irene Lesniewski of Erie, and Joan Vetrone and husband Leonard of Wisconsisn. Agnes is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Inurnment will be held in the future, in Calvary Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt appreciation to the loving staff at Sunrise Senior Living Center on Presque Isle Bay for their compassion and kindness given to Agnes during her stay.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to The ALS Association Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 416 Lincoln Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15209.
