Margaret A.  Hoyt (Schmitt)
Margaret Ann Schmitt Hoyt, age 87 of Green Township passed away peacefully, Friday, August 18, 2017, at Forest View at Spring Hill. She was born and raised in Erie on January 6, 1930, the daughter of the late Frank and Beatrice Frank Schmitt.

Margaret graduated Academy High School in 1948 and prided herself on attending a once a month lunch with surviving classmates. Along with her high school group she belonged to the Red Hat Society and the Saint Vincent Auxiliary for over 30 years. She worked a short career at Kohler Brewery then chose to be a stay at home mom. Margaret was an electoral voting official for Greene Township. Her hobbies throughout the years included snowmobiling, boating, attending sporting events, playing cards, traveling to visit family and friends, and being a grandmother.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles “Frank” Hoyt; her three brothers, Frank, James, and Eugene Schmitt.

Survivors include her brother, Fr. Charles Schmitt, her three daughters, Kathleen Stearns and her husband Cole, of Erie, Beth Przybyszewski and her husband Charles, of Erie, and Susan Kayser of Cupertino, CA; five grandchildren, Mark Brooks (Tiffany), Maria Brooks, Alex Stearns (Arianne), Scott Stearns, and Angela Przybyszewski; and two great-grandchildren, Cecelia and Alexandria Stearns.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. and are invited to visit the following morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the Sisters of Mercy Chapel – 444 E. Grandview Blvd. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Terrace Apartments – 430 E. Grandview Blvd. Erie, PA 16504.
