Virginia Mae Clements Meyer Thor, 100, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 16, 2017 at Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center. She was born in Lorain, OH on March 27, 1917 a daughter of the late Earl and Clara Millhof Clements.

Virginia was a 1935 graduate of East High School and originally worked at Kimmel Shoe Store. She worked as an office manager at the Glenwood YMCA for 20 years before retiring in 1982. She was an active, devoted, member of First United Methodist Church and was a Girl Scout Leader at East High School for 10 years. She volunteered at the Blind Center, First United Methodist Church, and Methodist Towers and started a monthly Protestant service at St. Joseph Apartments. She especially enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Arnold Thor; and her grandson, Jeffrey Wing.

Survivors include one son, Gary Meyer and his wife, Kathi, of Erie; two daughters, Donna Wing and her husband, Richard, of Riverside, CA and Sandra Schertzer and her husband, Donald, of Gilbert, AZ; one stepson, Charles Thor and his wife, Leith, of Erie; eight grandchildren, Bryan Wing (Allison), Allison Miller-Wing (John), Cheryl Ritts (Bruce), Greg Meyer, Robin Manna (Mark), Todd Meyer, Laurie Schertzer, and Kara Gooding (Michael); and many great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Friends are invited to a memorial service at First United Methodist Church, on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Erie Cemetery.
