Obituary for Walter J. Vallimont

Walter J.  Vallimont
Walter J. Vallimont, 78, of Greene Township, passed away on Sunday May 14, 2017 at Allegheny General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Erie on July 25, 1938 a son of the late Elmer and Eleanor Valimont Vallimont.

Walter was a 1957 graduate of Cathedral Prep and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1957- 1959. He attended Gannon University and worked with the Wattsburg Area School District as a bus driver and a bus mechanic for many years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Kuhl Hose Company.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Vallimont in infancy and Catherine Zapolski; and one brother, Raymond Vallimont.

Survivors include seven sisters, Sr. Judith Vallimont, S. Sp. S of Chicago, IL, Marjorie Vallimont of Erie, Sr. Laura (Dolores) Vallimont, OSB, of Erie, Joyce Silkworth of Erie, Elizabeth Mentz and her husband, Gerard, of Erie, Geraldine Stancliff and her husband, Leon Sr., of Erie, and Janice Zawadzki and her husband, Paul, of Westfield, IN; seven brothers, Donald Vallimont and his wife, Sarah, of Erie, Paul Vallimont and his wife, Joyce, of Erie, Robert Vallimont and his wife, Lisa, of Erie, Patrick Vallimont and his wife, Jeanne, of Union City, Edward Vallimont and his wife, Kathy, of Pensacola, FL, Phil Vallimont of Erie, and Mark Vallimont of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
