Leona M. Fresch Tochenny, 89, of Erie passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at the Village at Luther Square. She was born in Johnstown, PA on September 22, 1927 a daughter of the late Willard Fresch and Lorena Kessler Fresch.

Leona was a 1945 graduate of East High School and worked as a stock clerk with J.C. Penney for 28 years before retiring in 1992. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bread of Life Community and enjoyed traveling and gardening.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, John A. Tochenny; one son, in infancy, Mark Tochenny; two brothers, Benjamin W. and Richard G. Fresch; her stepmother, Lillian Griffin Fresch; and a sister in law, Marian Fresch.

Survivors include three sons, Willard "Bill" Tochenny of Waterford, James Colvin and his wife, Pat, of Erie, and Jerry Colvin, of Erie; one brother, Walter C. Fresch and his wife, Delores, of Phoenixville, PA; one sister, Marion Miller of Boynton Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Ryan, Zack, and Katie Colvin; one half-brother, Roger A. Fresch and his dear friend, Helen Hall, of Culver City, CA; a sister in law, Charlotte Fresch, of Erie; her dear friend, Kathy Durko of Erie; and many niece and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great, great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Saturday at 11:15 a.m. followed by a funeral service at St. Joseph Church, Bread of Life Community at 12:00 p.m.. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Erie Cemetery.
