Obituary for Maurice A. Vash

Maurice A. Vash age 79, a resident of Erie, died Monday September 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s Home East, following an extended illness. Born March 23, 1936, he was a retired City of Erie Police Officer, and also retired from Marine Bank. Maurice was the head of Security at Marine Bank and installed the first network of ATM/MAC machines for them.
Maurice was kind, loving, courageous and strong. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, brother, and a great friend. He liked WWE Wrestling, NASCAR, target shooting and camping. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dinah Ghisson Vash. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy Vash; daughter, Kathy Vash Ishman and her husband Quinton; Son, Ron Vash; brother, Chuck Vash and his wife June; sister, Diane Urraro; two grandsons, Paul Ploss and Dan Ishman and one great-grandson, Jerome Ishman. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and close family friends, Richie and Kathy Plymier.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, 16504, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM, with the Erie Retired Police Officers Association holding a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
