Chuck

Chuck was someone I truly called a friend. When I first started at BTC, my office was outside of the facility compound, pretty isolated from the rest of the institution. Chuck came over, introduced himself, and then got me up to speed on the facility and all the little nuances I needed to be aware. From that moment on Chuck and I were two peas in a pod. He always kept me up to speed on what was going on around the facility and whenever I needed to step away from the madness I knew I could count on him to help me take a breather. I always enjoyed walking into his office and listening to whatever top 40 music station he had on. I would bust his chops about the music being a little out of his demographic and he would laugh and tell me that’s how he stays young and hip. I never questioned it again and enjoyed my visits to his office even more after that. Chuck had a way of brightening up my Monday. He would come in and tell me about his weekend with the Sugar Bay crew or his adventures as a community patrol volunteer and their upgrade to actually getting a vehicle with lights and sirens. He was full adventure and always up for a good time. As we continued to work together I earned the title of his work wife and he was my work husband. We would speak of his children, he was always so proud of them and their accomplishments, and just share our daily ins and outs with each other. Even after I left BTC, though we didn’t talk as often, we kept in touch and he always brought a smile to my face. Chuck was my friend and I will miss him dearly.
