Obituary for Stanley J. Orbanick

Stanley J.  Orbanick
Stanley J. Orbanick age 77 of Erie passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Avila Retreat Center in Union City, PA. He was born in Erie on August 16, 1935, son of the late Stanley H. and Anna Marie (Stino) Orbanick.
Stan served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He spent many years of his life as a commercial farmer as well as a manufacturing supervisor at various shops in Edinboro, Erie and Corry, PA. Stan volunteered many hours of his time in his role as Administrator at Avila Retreat Center and served both on that Board and the Board of Maria House Projects. He was very active at Saint John the Baptist parish where he served as RCIA director for many years and was a Eucharistic Minister.
In addition to his parents Stan was preceded in death by his granddaughter Ashley Yingling and his brother-in-law Loren Avenson.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer Pianta-Orbanick, one son Jeffrey Orbanick of Waterford, three daughters; Lorraine Frownfelter and her husband Larry of Waterford, Suzanne Stefansky and her husband Gary of Canonsburg, PA and Katharine Senger and her husband David of Waterford, four grandsons; Jeffrey, Matthew and Stephen Orbanick and Andrew Van Dyke He is further survived by several great-grandchildren, two sisters; Josephine Leonard of Arizona and Margaret Pascuzzi and her husband Joe of Reading, PA and many nieces and nephews. He will also be fondly missed by his constant companion, Sasha. Together they spent hours of their time in projects related to helping others. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, 16504 on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00PM and are invited to a prayer service there on Thursday morning at 10:15AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment with full military honors will follow in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
