Obituary for John A. Orth

John A. Orth “Fonzie”
John “Fonzie” Orth age 70 of Erie, passed away peacefully at Golden Living Western Reserve Nursing Facility on Friday June 8, 2012.
John was born in Erie on May 30, 1942 a son of the late Anthony Orth and Mildred Orth Janowski.
He retired from E.M.T.A after 30 years of service, working as a bus driver. He was not just any bus driver, John was one of the most liked and courteous drivers according to his regular passengers and many considered him a “Legend of E.M.T.A”. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his wife Betty. John loved traveling to Martial Arts events to watch his son compete. He also enjoyed the casino, taking many trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with his favorite game being poker.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Jean Orth.
He is survived by his wife Betty Orth, two sons; Jason Orth and John Orth Jr., three daughters; Lisa Volatile, Audrey Orth and Debbie Barton. John is further survived by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc. 5000 Wattsburg Rd. Erie, PA 16504 on Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family c/o the funeral home.
