Obituary for Cecelia M. Yaple

Cecelia "Cele" Davitt Yaple, 88, a long time resident of Greene Township, died on Sunday evening July 22, 2007 at the Twinbrook Medical Center following a brief illness.
A resident of the Erie area all of her life, she was born in Erie on March 19, 1919 a daughter of the late John and Catherine Yosten Davitt.

Cele was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where she was active on many committees and activities. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and also to her family. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, and floral gardening. Cele loved to play cards and for many years had played cards with her Mother's Club. She was a retired bus driver from the Wattsburg Area School District.

Cele leaves to cherish her memory her husband of over 70 years, Lawrence "Larry" Yaple; 3 daughters, Geraldine Tomczak and her husband David of Erie, Judith Slike and her husband Irvin of Waterford, and Janice Lane and her husband Eddie of Cerritos, CA; 4 sons, Thomas Yaple and his wife Diane of Waterford, Lawrence Yaple, Jr. and his wife Connie of Elgin, PA, Ronald Yaple and his wife Carolyn and John "Jack" Yaple and his wife Brenda, all of Waterford; a sister, Marion Brainard and her husband Murray of Erie; 2 sister in laws, Marion Davitt and Millicent Snyder; 24 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandsons, 1 great great grandaughter, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Kenneth, Norman, and Clarence Davitt; a sister, Myrtle Bentley; a grandson Jeff Tomczak in 2002.

Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, 5000 Wattsburg Road, Erie, corner of East Gore Road and Pine Ave., Wednesday 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and are invited to prayer services there on Thursday morning at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Boniface Church at 10:00 AM.

Burial will be in Mt. of Olives Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Church, 9367 Wattsburg Road, Erie, 16509.
